Romans 5:15

"But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many." Romans 5:15

Sunday Service - In The Beginning

John 1:1-14

The "Word" means "logos" in Greek, the revealer of God. The son of God is the revealer of the nature of God. God's perfect representation. In the beginning - Genesis, Jesus existed, He is the creator of all things. He is the uncaused first cause. He has no beginning for He is the beginning, the eternal.

This passage demonstrated the doctrine of trinity; one God yet three persons; three persons yet one God. 1 John 5:7 is the proof text for the trinity nature of God. In this passage, we focus on the second person of the trinity - The Word. Verse 1 - The Word was with God; The Word was God. He is the eternally begotten Son of God. Westminster Confession of Faith - where begotten implies not born of the flesh, and not just 'only' as used in other versions of the Bible, These versions do not have the proof text for the doctrine of Trinity.

Question: Was Jesus the Son of God before He came to earth? Is the Sonship of God eternal or did it only begin when He came to earth through the virgin birth? So if there is no Son, is there therefore a Father to start with? This is dangerous and erroneous view. John 3:16 states very plainly that for God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son of God, so it showed the Jesus was the Son from eternity, ever in the bosom of God. (John 1:18)

Therefore, know and learn the truth of this doctrine. If we love God, then be clear of the true nature of this God that we believed.
